11/07/2006 - DAB Digital Radio launches new music Podcast The DRDB (Digital Radio Development Bureau) has launched a DAB digital radio podcast. “The Inside Track” features the latest music news and breaking tunes from DAB digital radio stations across the country. Hosted by Xfm DJ, Marsha, “The Inside Track” highlights the UK’s best unsigned bands in a 10 minute weekly feast of hip hop, electro indie, r’n’b, rap, indie punk and rock. All the tracks can be heard on DAB digital radio stations. The free podcast, which changes each week, sits on the DRDB’s consumer facing website, www.digitalradionow.com, as well as on its stakeholder websites like Xfm, Capital Radio and Choice. 13.6% of the UK adult population has a DAB digital radio at home, that’s 6.7 million people, and 23% of DAB owners are aged 15 – 24. Says DRDB chief executive, Ian Dickens: “The youth market is the fastest growing sector buying DAB digital radios, so it’s important to tell them about programme content designed for them. Radio has to be relevant and cutting edge to compete with other new technologies, like iPods. We felt a podcast was the ideal way to sample the type of fresh, new content available on stations like Choice, BBC 1Xtra, Virgin Radio Xtreme, BBC 6 Music, and Kerrang!” “The Inside Track” enjoys a 13 week sponsorship by MSN Spaces Live Sessions, and is produced by Creation Podcasts, part of GCap Media plc. |
